Good thing about working with people from different backgrounds is, you learn a lot. In a recent major platform, I was involved with 5 different architects from different backgrounds. It was impressive to see how everybody sees their world differently.

Did you know that there are probably 50 platforms are out there to build iPhone apps.

iPhone/iPad app market has been one of the hottest software development market recently. With the popularity of Facebook, Zynga, Twitter, Angry Birds and many others, companies have totaled billions of dollars in app revenue. As published by app-store-metrics, as of today, App Store has 632,929 total apps with 495,516 active downloadable apps.

As a developer, I was always curious to know and learn about various platforms available to build iPhone/iPad applications. As a matter of fact, I have personally used two of them when we were building our C# Corner iPhone app.

So briefly, here is a quick list of various platforms/products/APIs to build iPhone/iPad apps.

Objective-C (Apple iPhone SDK)

MonoTouch

ComponentOne Studio for iPhone

Adobe Flash Builder 4.5
