CSS stands for cascading style sheet. Style sheets are a very powerful tool for the Web site developer. This is used for applying styles for an entire web application at a single place. This reduces the developers coding time. In future when the style has to be changed then it can be done at a single place and it's reflected through out the site. They give you the chance to be completely consistent with the look and feel of your pages, while giving you much more control over the layout and design than straight HTML ever did.

Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) are just now starting to be widely used among browsers and Web developers are learning to be more comfortable with them.

There are three parts to CSS: the styles, their placement, and the fact that they can cascade.

If you are going to code with .net application then here you find a .css file from here we can add a css file.

Figure 1.

How we declare a class in  a CSS file:

.HeaderShow

{

    color:#8F8F8F;

    background-color:White;

    font-family:Georgia;

    font-size:12px;

    height:14px;

    font-weight:bold;

    text-decoration:none;

}

With this way we can declare a css class. In a .css file we can declare many classes.

How we link a cascading style sheet to HTML coding.

<HTML><HEAD>

     <LINK rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="MyStyleSheet.css">

     </HEAD>

     <BODY>  ...  </BODY>
</
HTML>

we can use this css class by using a class=
"HeaderShow".

We can use css inside <span tag> like as:

<span class="HeaderShow"> </span>

We can use css class by using Class="className"
